Civic Engagement & Representation

WHAT WE DO

NC Counts Coalition supports our community partners by providing nonpartisan civic engagement education and resources on how the decennial census results impact the democratic process, communities, community members, and everyday life.

HOW WE DO IT

As a coalition, we use census participation and informaiton as a means to equip, engage, and empower community members to act, be seen, and be heard in our democracy. This type of civic engagement is the foundation for building healthy, equitable, and just communities.

WHY WE DO IT

Fair representation is vital for systemic change in many BIPOC, LGBTQ+, low-wealth, immigrant, and other communities.  Our communities and our democracy become more just and equitable when everyone counts. Counting everyone is the first step in creating a democratic process in which all communities are heard, respected, and accurately represented.
