Civic Engagement & Representation

Our commitment to building a more healthy, just, and equitable North Carolina starts with ensuring everyone is counted during each decennial census.  Our commitment continues beyond the decennial and includes advocating for fair representation of ALL communities throughout the redistricting process and working daily to ensure equitable distribution of federal resources.

The census tells us who we are and where we are going as a nation, and helps our communities determine where to build everything from schools to supermarkets, and from homes to hospitals. It helps the government decide how to distribute funds and assistance to states and localities. It is also used to draw the lines of legislative districts and reapportion the seats each State holds in Congress.

ECONOMIC CENSUS DEADLINE APPROACHING

THE ECONOMIC CENSUS
Deadline March 15th

The Economic Census is the official five-year measure of American business and the economy. Invitations to complete the Economic Census will be mailed to selected businesses starting on January 31, 2023. If your business receives one, responses are due by March 15th and are required by law.

Businesses that respond to the Economic Census provide essential information that helps local governments, businesses, and nonprofits understand how our economy is doing and what can be done to make it more equitable. Not every business will be asked to respond to the Economic Census, but those who do will be able to provide the information online, and their information will be kept confidential.

More information is available on the 2022 Economic Census website
